The Trans-Alaskan Pipeline was a milestone accomplishment for the state and has shaped our environment, our economy, and our culture for nearly 100 years. However, Alaska is always looking north to the future and a we look 100 years ahead we can see how advancements in technology and economic understanding presents us with the greatest opportunity for setting a course that could see Fairbanks become a global hub of culture and commerce. Most notably, it gives us choices on how we, in the hear and now, can lower the cost of living and improve the quality of life for those who today call this place home.
